This is a view of Time Square from my hotel room New York City is one of my favorite places to visit. During my last visit to the "Big Apple." My family and I took in the sights at the Trump Tower, ate at Sardi's and couldn't resist the Tavern on the Green, and the view from the Empire State Building. Plan your trip early and you'll be able to visit some of your favorite talk shows. My kids had an opportunity to be in the audience at MTV, while my husband and I shopped till we dropped. We took in a broadway play and had a wonderful visit. Each time I visit New York, I find something interesting to do. You might want to check out Harlem, shop in SoHo and pay your respects to those who were lost a Ground Zero. Before you book your trip, scan the Web for last minute deals and then start calling hotels to get the best prices. Check for special packages as well. If you fly into LaGuardia Airport instead of JFK you might get a better rate. Take the subways, taxi's and walk to save money and forget about renting a car because parking is through the roof. Food is abundant in New York City, so try the local diners and sandwich shops. If you want to dine at a few of the local landmarks, be prepared to pay high dollar and make reservations early. Tips: Wear comfortable shoes, bring a fanny pack, a small purse or a jacket with lots of pockets. If the weather is cold wear layers and avoid carrying a heavy coat. It will weigh you down while walking all over town. Book your broadway play weeks in advance to avoid the long lines. And make your dinner reservations ahead of time as well.
